Why Tau?
The name "Tau" holds deep significance for our institution. In Tswana, Tau means lion—a creature that has long symbolized strength, courage, and leadership across cultures. At Tau University, this symbolism is intentional, woven into the very fabric of our identity.
TauU was born from a bold idea: to disrupt, reimagine, and lead a new era of higher education. We do not seek to replicate what has been done before. We exist to redefine what a university can be.
Lions are celebrated for more than their power. They are deeply strategic, resilient, and focused. They are social animals, thriving in communities called prides. Within these prides, there is collaboration, mentoring, care, and mutual growth. TauU mirrors this.
